Beijing Case represents the result of a scholarship project initiated by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Beijing which was carried out in Beijing, in the summer of 2005. Over a period lasting four months, twelve artists from Germany and China used the city as their laboratory for the artistic examination of the cultural dimensions of high-speed urbanisation in Beijing. The artists are: Heike Baranowsky & Waszem Khan, Thomas Bayrle, Caofei & Ou Ning, Christine de la Garenna & Via Lewandowsky, Echo Yinsin Ho, Mara Kurotschka, Ma Yingli, Ingo Niermann, Susanne Röckel and Xi Chuan.

At the end of 2007 the international museum of modern arts, MUMOK Vienna, invited Pinie Wang to make a compilation of contemporary Chinese electronic music, which has been released online on www.mumok.at. Last summer I supported the Austrian electro band Bunny Lake to sing their song “Disco Demons” into Chinese. For the Poptastic Conversation China from Fly Fast Records. It was really fun to work with Bunny Lake in their studio and I think the Chinese version is even better than the english version! Listen to DISCO GUAIWU here:
